Oral history interviews of the Pie Town Oral History Project, 1980 [videorecording]

The collection contains videocassettes of oral history interviews with some of the original homesteaders of Pie Town, N.M. including Edd Jones, original cook at Pie Town Hotel and Chair of the town council. The interviews, conducted in 1980, concern the values and experiences of the past and how life in Pie Town changed over the years. The interviews explore the story of Pie Town, its Pie Festival, and the surrounding ranches and farms of Catron County during the 1920s and 1930s.

The rural area around Pie Town, N.M. was settled early in the Twentieth Century. It was one of the last communities to be settled under the Homestead Act of 1862. The actual town of Pie Town was founded later around a service station and a cafe famous for their pies.
